Dear Hospital Administrators and Directors:

With mixed feelings, I am writing this letter of recommendation to one of my favorite nurses, Rose Kelly. He has served beside me and with other doctors here at ABC Regional Medical Center for the last 18 years. He is an integral part of this hospital, adored by patients and respected by his friends. Rose wants to move to the Hollywood area to be closer to her grandson and she needs to find a position in her profession as a nurse in that area. As a grandfather, I understood his desire to be closer to his grandson, but as a doctor, I would miss him a lot.

Rose is what many of us in medicine call the old school in terms of her work ethic, sense of duty and responsibility, physical stamina, and emotional flexibility. At the same time, he does not shy away from new technology and changing treatment methods, but embraces them with enthusiasm because his greatest desire is to help heal patients both physically and emotionally. Rose is always flexible when it comes to working overtime due to emergency cases or changing shifts due to sick colleagues. She became one of the most reliable nurses I ever had and was privileged to supervise.

He can strongly empathize with a very sick patient and his family while remaining calm, thinking clearly and rationally, and controlling his own emotions. Rose has excellent communication skills and the ability to make perfect notes for each patient’s medical record file. He thrives in a fast-paced environment and is an excellent multi-tasker. Rose was able to clearly and effectively explain discharge instructions to patients and their families and calmly answer all their questions. Chronic pain patients often ask for Rose when they return to the hospital.
